The Future of Internet Past…

// December 18th, 2007 // 1 How » // The Future of the Web

Today inaugurated this blog about Internet and network changes every day, with the surprising revelation of his own creator, Sir Tim Berners-Lee. According to Sir Tim, the future of the internet has to do with “Semantic Web“, in which human ingenuity is replaced by artificial intelligence.

El mundo digital de Internet, la mente y la máquina

This is your vision for the future Internet, remixed with the speech of Martin Luther King, “I have A dream” (I have a dream) version 2.0. The only problem –well to consider– is that the promised land of Sir Tim, turns out to be a mechanical nightmare:

“I have a dream for the Web [in which computers] become capable of analyzing all the data on the Web – the content, links, and transactions between people and computers. A ‘Semantic Web,’ which should make this possible, has yet to emerge. But when it does, the day-to-day mechanisms of trade, bureaucracy, and our daily lives will be handled by machines talking to machines. The ‘intelligent agents’ that people have touted for ages will finally materialize”

I have a dream for the Web, [in which computers], become capable of analyzing all the data from the Web – content, links, transactions between people and computers. A “Semantic Web”, that would make it possible, is yet to emerge. But when I do, exchange mechanisms of everyday, bureaucracy, and our daily lives will be handled by machines talking to machines. The “Intelligent agents“, we have been selling for decades finally materialize.

Go nightmare, man!, is that “Semantic Web” de Sir Tim, is a mixture of “1.984” the George Orwell and “Happy worlds” the Aldous Huxley. His “Intelligent Agent”, is perhaps the “Big brother” , Web have replaced the human cultures and institutions of our collective history. In his dream, Sir Tim says Farewell, to interactions “daily” of humans in terms of policy (Bureaucracy), economy (Trade) and society (life everyday).

Internet as the interpreter artificial human information. This radical vision of Sir Tim on the Web 3.0 is also shared by other digital utopians of Silicon Valley – from Second Lifers of the afterlife in the form of Avatar to the militia's wikilunáticos Jimmy Wales the Wikipedia (Jimbo Wales for friends), Boys through artificial algorithm Googleplex.

For example, if we remember to CEO Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Eric Schmidt, Prince crowned intelligent Internet data. Last year, Schmidt asked where Google was expected within a decade. A ten-year, Google CEO prophesied, the engine artificial algorithm would be so smart search, not only know what kind of work, We human beings, we would like, but also what we would do tomorrow, for example.

The truth is that, — flatulent besides digital utopian predictions — there is no evidence “Intelligent Agents” on the horizon. The data on the internet today, are more stupid than intelligent data. Internet is full of crappy user-generated content, engines and even taste crappy, crappy even search engines like Google with its, tentacles growing monopolizing the digital universe.

So the future of the internet is next to the traditional authority of human experience. The future lies with the genuine, humans with no virtual, as viral messages and using the revolutionary tools of online publication via internet, They convey their wishes between.

So I think, undoubtedly, Internet's future, has nothing to do with the miracle of intelligent data, but rather, the future of the internet has to do with the data used intelligently by humans.
